Elkstone launches an investment management service
Elkstone has launched an investment management service, looking to grow our client base and tap into the demand for alternative investments. As part of the service, clients will outsource day-to-day management of their investments to Elkstone.
For this service, we are pursuing a new client base with the product, in particular investors with portfolios of around €500,000, who have limited experience in investment. The wealth management service currently offered by the Elkstone, is for higher net worth clients, generally those with portfolios of €25 million or more, who are “more seasoned” investors.
Some key insights from Karl include:
The investment management service is looking for gaps in people’s portfolios and build a custom private market segment, where Irish investors are typically underweight, and manage that portion for them.
Elkstone is not trying to compete with other wealth and investment managers. We see our portfolio sitting complementary to ones Irish investors currently have, either by themselves or with another provider. Investors should add an alternative portfolio because it complements and protects traditional market portfolios
Private markets have traditionally been an area primarily for institutional investors. However, the market has grown dramatically from $9.7 trillion (€8.8 trillion) in 2012 to $24.4 trillion in 2023, according to EY, and attracted a different class of investors, namely high-net worth individuals.
Private assets tend to have different characteristics and are not as exposed to market sentiment, thereby offering diversification for investor’s portfolios, according to many investment managers.
